If you read Big Box Detox regularly, you know we have been working on our back yard all summer. (For a recap check out this post with the plan and this progress update). These days the back yard is moving at a snail’s pace. Here is what we have completed to date:
- Dig trench
- measure yard
- price out materials
- remove pergola
- remove fence
- remove rest of deck
- remove fire pit / patio stones
- Dig Pit for gravel and patio stones
- relocate electrical into ditch
- Trim trees
- weed front yard / rake front yard
Recently we tackled the patio. Laying patio stones was the most awful DIY project I have ever undertaken. I don’t think I would ever do it again.
So before I reveal the patio I thought I should remind of what our yard looked like earlier this spring…
It may not look like much but it was so much work!! Believe it or not we are on the home stretch now. Next step: I need to figure out if we can lay sod in the fall. I really hope we can… I don’t want to wait till next spring.
Check out this picture of sad Eric. He can’t believe how much work is left to get our yard in top shape. Also, I think he hates laying patio stones more than I do.
