Spoonflower

I am currently looking for fabric to create a cushion top for the bench in my boot room.  Looking for fabric online I stumbled across the fantastic and wonderful Spoonflower, a unique fabric store for DIYers everywhere.  At Spoonflower crafty and talented people can design, print and sell their own fabric.  For the artistically challenged out there (that’s me) you can browse through other people’s designs and purchase them online.

In addition to being a stylish creative outlet, Spoonflower is also environmentally conscious.  According to the Spoonflower website the digital printing technique they use is very efficient and wastes minimal fabric, ink, water and electricity.  They also use eco-friendly water-based pigments and natural fibre textiles to create their product.

Spoonflower also holds a weekly design contest asking people to submit a design of a particular theme ranging from medieval to tiki.  Each week Spoonflower community members are able to vote on their favourite design and select a winner.

To start tracking your favourite fabric designs you must create an account on their website.  You will notice from the swatches I have selected as favourites that  there are several styles of fabric to choose from at reasonable prices.

Stay tuned for my upcoming projects—Spoonflower users may just recognize some of the fabric I use!
