Mash-up: Spoonflower and Pattern Cooler

by Kristen on June 14, 2010

Last week I blogged about Spoonflower, an online shop where designers can upload their own patterns and images to print custom made fabric.  As a non-designer I thought I would have to do my best to find fabric that fit my needs until I came across a blog post from How About Orange on a terrific website called Pattern Cooler.  With Pattern Cooler’s easy to use pattern generator, users can edit and altar the size and colour of contemporary and retro pattern designs.  All patterns on this site operate under creative commons and can be used for non-commercial design related projects as well as personal art work.

The Sponflower and Pattern Cooler together is such a great way for non-designers to get the look they want with minimal effort!  With Pattern Cooler users are able to download images they create online.  Once the custom image is downloaded, it is easy to upload it to Spoonflower in order to create your own custom fabric.  As you can see, I have already created a few sample fabric swatches that I might consider printing for the cushion in my boot room.
