Anyone who reads my blog on a regular basis knows I am a procrastinator. You may recall that Eric hung wallpaper in the front entrance last november and I never posted an after picture. I bought the wall paper even further back… way back last September. I splurged and bought a roll of wallpaper with an Anthropologie gift card I received for my 29th birthday. Fast forward to today, six days before my 30th birthday and it seems like a good time to share the transformation in this room. I L.O.V.E this wallpaper! My only regret is not sharing this transformation sooner!
Eric hung the wallpaper last November. He claims it was the single hardest DIY job he has ever completed. I find that hard to believe considering he build our bed and our kitchen table. and we have been living with a hole in the wall instead of a light fixture for nine months. This weekend, we finally picked up a light for our front entrance! And yes, the wires hung out of the wall for a full 9 months. My friends, that’s what we call procrastination.
Before the wallpaper and light, the space looked like this:
Isn’t the old 90s light horrid? I was so happy to be finally rid of that thing! This weekend, approximately 9 months after hanging the wallpaper the bought and installed a new light fixture from IKEA. While the new light may not be a show stopper, I think it fits perfectly in this space. The wallpaper commands a lot of attention, and this light fits in nicely without stealing the spotlight. Also, I like how it kind of looks like a lantern hung up on the tree.
While the space is looking better than it did last november, there is still much to be done. I would like to hang some art, and maybe a mirror. I would also like to make new curtains and pillows. Let’s see if I can at least one of those things done before another 9 months are up!
Longer term upgrades for this space will include new tile and a new front door. I guarantee neither of those things will happen in the next year. You should know by know, that’s just not how we roll!
