A couple weeks ago I wrote a book review on Knitting Little Luxuries by Louise Harding. I was drawn to this book because of the beautiful photograph of the Daphne Purse featured on the front cover. I love the embroidered details and tight knit pattern that looks like fabric.
While I was in Kelowna I bought wool to start working on this project at The Art of Yarn. To complete the project I purchased thin yarn made of linen (40%) and Rayon (%60) called Naturlin Gold. In many ways this project is the complete opposite of my cowl. I am using teeny tiny needles and a twine-like yarn with very little stretch. So far I have started and ripped this project apart four times… I think it will be a long time before I am showing off my results!

Have you tried different needles? I have learned (in my limited experience) that needles make a huge difference. While I love the feel of bamboo needles, some yarns don’t work over them depending on their make up. So, if you’re using one kind, try another. I hope that helps! I once made my nephew a superhero cape and did most of the project on bamboo. My hands cramped up and I was near tears until I went to the store, bought a slick set of needles and transfered it over and voila! I was a knitting whirlwind again!

Dear Kristen,
I am a very good friend of your sister’s & she told me awhile back how much she thought we were alike & gave me the link to your blog. I have really enjoyed reading it! I am an avid knitter myself & am very impressed with what you have been making being such a new knitter. Natalie has been watching my progress as I have been knitting my first pair of socks this summer. Can’t wait to see what else you decide to work on!
