Last night after my headache passed, Eric and I went out to buy our Christmas tree! If you are a regular reader of Big Box Detox, you know that I am a real tree person. After dinner we bundled up and headed to IKEA to buy our tree. Our tree cost $20 and all proceeds support New Heights School for children with autism in Calgary.
For $20.00 you get a pretty decent tree. Also, the IKEA lot in Calgary does a great job of creating a festive atmosphere. This evening the people working the lot were wearing Santa hats and listening to Christmas music. The lot also has this great little trailer where the workers can go and warm up.
The only downside is that all the trees are wrapped up in twine and it is hard to know what you bought till you get the tree home. Since the tree only costs $20 I can live with this minor inconvenience Here is Eric with the tree we finally picked! We choose it because it was relatively straight, the right height and not overly bushy.
Next we attached the tree to the car roof and drove it home. I should mention that when I say we attached the tree to the car roof, I mean Eric attached the tree to the car roof. I just stood there looking pretty!
Back at home, we (again, I really mean Eric) unwrapped the tree, and put it up in the tree stand. Once the tree was up, it was time to wait. We caught up on TV from last week and waited for the tree to thaw out and fall into place.
We (and this time I really mean both of us) will decorate the tree tomorrow after work! I can hardly wait!I love decorating the tree, listening to Christmas music and drinking hot cocoa.
