Inspiring Interiors: Granny Chic

by Kristen on January 11, 2010

When I was a kid my grandma had all these milk glass vases.  She filled them with carnations that my grandpa brought her on Fridays or peonies from her garden.  My grandpa even made sure grandma got her flowers the Friday before he passed away.  It was so nice to see two people so much in love after 50 years of marriage.

Inspired by my grandma’s lovely milk vases, here are my picks to create a fabulous ice blue and milky white granny chic interior.  For me granny chic is traditional with a twist.  It is about bringing elements like vintage milk vases together with eye popping contemporary hits.

Does your granny have any great vintage nick-knacks or house wares that you would love to have in your home?  Any fond memories attached to these items?

A bit of a side note: I am not sure what it is but I am really drawn to white interiors at the moment.  Perhaps it has to do with the long dark winter days and my craving for sunlight!  I hear spring is just around the corner… At any rate, enjoy these picks!
