Holiday Ornament Swap 2010

by Kristen on December 14, 2010

This year I decided to participate in the fifth annual Freshly Blended Holiday Ornament Swap. Should you decide to play, you are given a list of nine other participants. You make nine ornaments and send them to the people on the list. In return, those on the list also send you an ornament. It is so neat to receive nine different handmade ornaments for the tree!  To ckeck out some of the ornaments people are creating check out the Flickr Group.

Inspired by Megan at In Words and Pictures I decided to make heart basket ornaments out of felt.

The video Megan posted on weaving the project together is really helpful.  I would add to the instructions that the dimensions of your oval felt pieces are crucial.  I found that cutting my ovals out of a 9 inch by 3 inch rectangle worked well.  I think the key to this project is making sure the width of the rectangle is 1/3 of the length of the rectangle.  This helps make sure your final project actually looks like a heart.

So what do you think of my ornaments?  I think they are super cute and that they would also make a really cute gift card holder for the holidays.
