I am off to a wedding shower for NR in E-Town this weekend and I bought her a gift that deviates from the registry. According to The Knot wedding guests should proceed with “caution” when buying stuff that is not on a couple’s wedding registry.
I am not sure I agree with this statement. Some of my and EBN’s favorite wedding gifts were things we did not register for. We received a some unique one-of-a-kind gifts like a beautiful handmade quilt and pottery as well as splurge gifts we never would have registered for including up-graded plane tickets (1st class for our honeymoon), a case of assorted wines and a stay at a Fairmont hotel of our choice.
