After weeks and weeks I have finally completed by first non-dishcloth knitting project! If anyone is interested, you can check out my previous post discussing the start of this project. The previous post also contains a link to the free pattern for the Fear of Commitment Cowl designed by Julie Weisenberger that I am sporting in the picture below.
Although the cowl is not perfect I am amazed by the improvements I have made over the past few weeks. I feel like I can now call myself a knitter and I am so excited to start on a new project! I am also thrilled with the wool I choose. It is a gorgeous chunky indigo blue, baby alpaca/ cashmere blend. Although the wool shed quiet a bit when I was working on it, the end project does not seem as bad.
I will also say I feel really lucky to have other woman in my life that knit. Being able to get help from MJ, JB or my grandma helped ensure that I did not give up. Once again, I made extensive use of Knitting Help for refreshing my memory and this time I needed help casting off. When I went to watch the cast off video and was able to complete the stitch on the first try. I was so excited because I felt like I could really see how much my knitting skills had improved over the course of this project!

Oh, awesome! I recently became a knitter, too. Here’s my first project. I suspect ALL my projects will be scarves, because I’m askeered of things more complicated:

I just taught myself to crochet from a fabulous series over on Meet Me At Mikes (here: http://meetmeatmikes.blogspot.com/ )it’s been brilliant, but I’m now hoping to teach myself to knit. Your scarf looks awesome, and a great colour choice!
