Book Review: Knitting Little Luxuries

by Kristen on July 27, 2010

Knitting Little Luxuries by Louisa Harding is a delightful knitting book full inspiring, modern, unique and feminine knitting projects.  If you don’t knit, this book will make you wish you knew how to! The book contains unique patterns and beautiful photography that will draw you in and encourage you to pick up those knitting needles.

Divided into four categories which include: Eclectic and Quirky, Textured and Modern, Pretty and Feminine, and finally, Traditional and Folk, the patterns have a handmade feeling that the designers at Anthropologie are always trying to achieve.

Knitting Little Luxuries contains 21 unique patterns for mittens, scarves, hats, sweaters, bags and wraps. Harding places a lot of emphasis on embellishment and customization of projects through the addition of unique details such as buttons, pom poms and embroidery.  This allows the knitter to customize the finished projects to suit individual tastes.

I think my first project will be the Daphne Purse featured on the book’s front cover (see above).  It has such a beautiful feminine feel to it and I cannot wait to get started.  My other favorite projects include the Embellished Mittens (See below) and the Dixie Pillow.
