Big Box Detox Rewind

by Kristen on July 26, 2010

Remember when your favorite TV show used to do an entire episode devoted to clips?  This used to make me so mad but I get it now.  As a creator it is great to sit back and reflect on posts gone by.

I got the idea for this post came from Suz over at the blog Suz Rocks.  It seems like a great time to post something like this since I have picked up a few new readers in the last little while.  The idea for the seven link challenge originally comes from blog guru Darren Rowse over at ProBlogger.  So here are seven links that are important to me.

My First Post:

Handmade Gifts For Under $25

I first stumbled upon Etsy Stalker last fall and this great blog began my love affair with Etsy.  My blog and interest in all-things-handmade expanded from these two sources of inspiration.

The post I enjoyed writing the most:

Cowl Completed

It took me so long to complete my cowl and at first I found knitting so frustrating.  Needless to say I was so proud to have finished the project!  This was the post I enjoyed writing the most because I was so excited that I actually learned to knit and that I had accomplished what I had set out to do- to live handmade.

A post which had a great discussion:

Things I am Thankful For

Although there are only two comments on this post, I love to hear what other people are thankful for.  It helps put life in perspective and gives me warm and fuzzy feelings.  So please check this post out and add to the discussion!

A post on someone else’s blog that you wish you’d written:

Before and After: Sarah’s Airstream Studio from Design Sponge

I love Design Sponge’s Before and After posts.  They highlight and feature some of the most creative people I have ever encountered.  For example, Sarah transformed an old 1963 airstream trailer into one of the most unique and amazing studio spaces I have ever seen!  I find so much inspiration through these Before and After Posts.

My most helpful post:

Dishcloth Stitches

Knitting Help changed my life.  Although MJ and JB both taught me some stitches in-person, going to knitting help means getting refreshers on-the-spot whenever necessary (even at 2:30AM when you can’t sleep).  If you knew nothing about knitting and had no one to teach you, you could actually use this website to teach yourself.

A post with a title that you are proud of:

Etsy ABC’s: Around the World in 26 Letters

I think the title is cute and finding an item on Etsy that starts with each letter of the alphabet and ensuring that each of these items was made in a city, state or place with the same letter was A LOT of work!

A post that you wish more people had read:

Skin Deep

In 2009, the Canadian government announced that D4 and D5 (ingredients found in lipstick) were toxic and an environmental danger.  Although regulating bodies have begun to recognize the potential danger of certain ingredients, this is a new development with a long way to go.  Because there is so little regulation in the cosmetics industry it is crucial that people are aware of what is in their cosmetic and beauty products.  I wish more people were aware of this vitally important issue.

I found your blog through the #31DBBB challenge. I’m so glad I did – I love all things handmade! I’ve already subscribed to your feed, and wish I had more time to go through your site. I’m definitely going to return though – your blog’s lovely!

I have a DIY Green Living blog hop going every Tuesday, and would love for you to link up your site if you’re interested? Keep up the good work.

Peace. ;)
