Yesterday I shared some of our “before” landscaping pictures. Today I would like to share our plans and overall vision for our backyard.
A typical engineer, Eric created a scale diagram of the yard. The diagram is what we anticipate the yard will look like before the end of the summer. From the flower beds to the grout lines between the tiles, everything is to scale. Let’s just say that my husband likes precision.
Last summer we built the two raised beds on the left side of the backyard. These raised beds will remain my vegetable garden. On the right hand side of the yard we are planning to build a raised bed against the garage and build two patio spaces. We will also be sodding the entire space and laying down some pea gravel to create a path around my veggies garden as well as down the right hand side of the garage.
Down the right side of the house and in the front we will be putting down pea gravel and decorating with a raised bed, a few large pots and a bistro set. The front yard and side yard contain massive pine trees. These trees are about 40 feet tall. As a result they monopolize the soil’s water and create a ton of shade. As a result of these conditions we are not able to grow much of anything in the front.
I have to say we are so excited to get things done! Looking forward to sharing more photos in the upcoming weeks!
