Can you believe it is nearly December 1st? I am not sure where the year has gone! This year, I decided to make my own advent calendar. Seeking inspiration, I turned to Pinterest and I was inspired by Ashley over at Make It and Love It. She made these great little thank you pockets stuffed with candy and I thought 25 of them would make the perfect advent calendar.
So I spent an afternoon making 25 of pockets filled with sweets and transformed my chalk wall into a giant advent calendar.
To Make your own advent calendar pockets you will need:
- Craft Paper
- A circle to trace (I used a small serving dish)
- Felt Marker
- Sewing machine
- Sweet Treats
- Festive embellishments (optional)
- Painter’s Tape (If you want to put them on the wall like I did)
Start by tracing out 50 circles and cutting them out
Once you have cut out your circles, stencil half of them with the numbers 1 through 25
Next take one circle that has been stenciled and one plain circle and lie them on top of each other.
Sew the circles together about 3/4 of the way with 1/4 inch seam allowance. Next, without lifting the needle, stuff your envelop with candy and sew the circle closed. I forgot to take a photo of this so check out Ashley’s photos for more of a visual.
Next, I used painter’s tape to stick my little bundles to my chalk wall Christmas tree. If you don’t have a chalk wall you could hang these little guys with clothes pins on red and white twine or stick just stick them in a big glass bowl.
Now be patient and wait till December 1st to crack open your first little treat!
